We are property virgins in Toronto, seeking to buy a detached resale house with two-car garage, walking distance of the subway and highway-accessible. Our friends of similar age and means are not buying in Toronto, but we both work in the city, and living here will mean we are centrally located in the midst of our GTA friends, relatives, and colleagues in Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Georgina, Utopia, Oshawa, Pickering, Brampton, Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington, and on to Hamilton.

We are currently renting downtown, where Bloor Street marks the boundary between urban lifestyle and suburban life. While it will cost us dearly to set down roots within the city, I think we will get paid back in the long term. If not, at least we will have saved time on the commute.
